What did you or did not like about the first place you lived without your parents?
The first place I lived once I was out of the house was on Chicago Avenue in Elgin, IL with my first husband (before we were married). It was a typical “upper” of an older home with the old radiator heating and a clawfoot tub. I think that place cemented my love for old homes. New construction just does not have the quality or the quirkiness or the originality of older homes.
What is your most favorite smell/scent?
There’s nothing like the smell of a baby’s hair.
Would you prefer snowy winters, or not, and why?
I’d prefer to not have snow, however, IF I am living in what I consider the “perfect” spot, and it happens to snow, well, whatever. I’m from Northern Illinois — I lived with snow almost my entire life. But I’m pretty done with it. Gimme warm.
So, that was pretty ambiguous, wasn’t it!!
What did you appreciate or what made you smile this past week?
My sister was quoted in her town’s newspaper, which made me super proud of her. Her career is really on the upturn and she’s gonna be a perfect principal one day.
