Michael Blaylock of Fencing with Ink put up his list of the “have to see” Christmas specials and, of course, there’s nothing like swiping someone else’s blog post idea! So, in honor of Michael’s list, here’s mine, duplicates and all:
Charlie Brown Christmas
To me, when Linus takes the stage and reminds Charlie Brown what the meaning of Christmas really is, I get my Christmas mojo back. And I love Snoopy and, most especially, this dance shown above.
The Grinch who Stole Christmas
I feel less like a Grinch after I watch this old favorite. Plus, Boris Karloff as the Grinch voice is awesome.
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Uncle Eddy. I need say no more.
Any of the Rankin/Bass specials
Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town …..
It’s a Wonderful Life
I used to NEVER watch this one, but it reminds me that we all touch so many lives during our lifetime — the world would be a very different place without us.
A Christmas Story
“You’ll shoot your eye out, Ralphie …” And the bunny suit.
So, let’s see what I’ve missed …. anyone else wanna weigh in on the best Christmas specials?
I would like to add Elf. My family and I have to watch it at least once, sometimes a few more times every Christmas. So many amazing quotes.

I’m not a huge fan of Will Ferrell, but it’s cute.

I’ve been watching those sappy Hallmark-channel-ish movies on Netflix. They are so awful, but I STILL tear up!

I think I must be one of the few people who hates It’s A Wonderful Life. Jimmy Stewart emotes a bit too much for me. 🙂 On my list, I would replace it with Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol, a favorite since childhood. Happy Christmas and Merry Holidays.

I’ll watch Wonderful Life once a year, maybe.
