I am, and have been, a musician since I first picked up the flute in the 3rd grade. Collaboration, to me, brings to mind such wonderful musical pieces! One of my very favorites, shown in the YouTube video below, is “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” by Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett:
Musical collaborations are not new, obviously. I can recall many times playing the greatest songs from movie/Broadway musicals like those from Oscar and Hammerstein (The King and I, Carousel, and The Sound of Music), Gilbert and Sullivan (The Pirates of Penzance) and Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber (Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat).
One of my absolute favorite collaborations of all time was The Three Tenors: Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, and Jose Carreras. Lord the music!! Pavarotti’s voice was, in my opinion, the clearest of them all, even in his later years. Nessun Dorma never sounded so beautiful:
